Gee, what a surprise....

As Connecticut becomes the first state to pass a labeling law for GE/GMO foods, the USDA is allowing Monsanto to plant 1500 acres of GM wheat as a "trial". Which is very convenient for Monsanto, since unapproved GM wheat has recently been discovered in Oregon, a fact which caused Japan to suspend U.S. imports and  immediately cancel a huge purchase of U.S. wheat. (Predictably, Monsanto has no idea how that happened....)

See, other countries don't want their citizens to be the unwilling, unpaid human testers for GM products, products that have not been proven safe for human or animal use. Of course, in the corporate states of 'merka, no such concern on the part of government exists. Based on results, their sole purpose seems to be paving the way for huge corporate interests to do whatever may be profitable for elite stockholders, no matter how detrimental to health or the environment it may be. Well, that, and making sure Big Corpos maintain their effective tax rate of zero dollars.

Meanwhile, Monsatan and its water boys in Congress are working feverishly to "attach one or more 'Monsanto Riders' or amendments to the 2013 Farm Bill that would preempt or prohibit states from requiring labels on genetically engineered (GE) foods." That's right, no matter what states legislate on behalf of their citizens, they would be prohibited from identifying foods sold in their states as being genetically modified.  (Just buy it and shut up! How DARE you believe you are entitled to know what you are buying and eating! You'll eat what we produce and like it!)
