Does Asheville need an Amphibious Tank? Does Hendersonville?

Am I missing something here? Help me out, folks.

From Business Insider:

The Pentagon Is Offering Free Military Hardware To Every Police Department In The US
Robert Johnson

The U.S. military has some of the most advanced killing equipment in the world that allows it to invade almost wherever it likes at will.

We produce so much military equipment that inventories of military robots, M-16 assault rifles, helicopters, armored vehicles, and grenade launchers eventually start to pile up and it turns out a lot of these weapons are going straight to American police forces to be used against US citizens.

Benjamin Carlson at The Daily reports on a little known endeavor called the "1033 Program" that gave more than $500 million of military gear to U.S. police forces in 2011 alone.

1033 was passed by Congress in 1997 to help law-enforcement fight terrorism and drugs, but despite a 40-year low in violent crime, police are snapping up hardware like never before. While this year's staggering take topped the charts, next year's orders are up 400 percent over the same period.

This upswing coincides with an increasingly military-like style of law enforcement most recently seen in the Occupy Wall Street crackdowns.

Tim Lynch, director of the Cato Institute's project on criminal justice told The Daily, “The trend toward militarization was well under way before 9/11, but it’s the federal policy of making surplus military equipment available almost for free that has poured fuel on this fire." More here.

"People get ready..."

'scuze me! There's only one reason for this and nothing will convince me otherwise.

The government is getting ready for something they are afraid the public may revolt over. So what is it?

Taxes? Doubtful.

An invasion by those infidels from...where ever? Highly doubtful.

The Martians are coming? Right!

Why would local police departments need military firepower when the military is the one department to protect us from invasion unless the vast majority of the military will be elsewhere!!!

Think about it. Our Peacetime (LOL!) contingent of military is the lowest since Ben, George and Tom had this novel idea. Add to that the assholes, better known as Congress, the President and corporations who run this country, want even more money, power and control for those who have and the way they decided to get it is through perpetual war. Slavery wasn't abolished...it was just put on hold for 150 years. (They tried in in the early 20th century but the people then had enough balls to fight the wealthy!)

So if we send our military with brand new killing technology "over there" reducing the number needed here to maintain the new law and order, who's gonna be here to enforce those new laws? Yep! An already in place, rent-a-cop "police" army just like we imposed on Japan after WWII! (In case you don't know, we stipulated that Japan was not allowed a standing army so they created the world's largest police force! Talk about getting around a law!)

There is a precedent in history for this kind of action. If you don't know what is was, then you will just love "großer Bruder!"

We're training local cops in military tactics at a record pace and we're seeing those same cops given carte blanche to repress anyone who dares protest against the government (except gun carrying tea party, religious and conservative factions.)

Fuck Godwin! If you can't see this is the 21st Century version of the Third Reich with a new DoJ Himmlerian Version of the Gestapo, then your head is either in the sand or up some politician's ass!

Gee, Wally! I hope I haven't offended any pseudo patriots.

Oh, it's ok, Beav. They don't really care as long as they have their imagined Consitutional Laws and freedoms!

Oh Wally, I can't wait for the outcry over the next few years! "Why didn't someone stop this?"

Wally and Beav: HAHAHAHAHA!

By the way, it's December 7th. Rings a bell for some reason. Looking back, that day of infamy belongs to the 20th century. And as astounding as it was, there's a new date to take its place.

This generation and the next 10 can celebrate December 12th, 2000.
That's the day 5 ultra right wing radicals destroyed America.

The Japanese couldn't do it.
The Germans couldn't do it.
The Soviets couldn't do it.

And now, the Chinese don't have to do it. Scalia and friends did it for them.

And they don't care. Time for new justices.

I don't need an amphibious tank, but I sure could use a James Bond car right about now!
