Stop. The. Empire. Dear Gawd, where does it end? The parade of "serious threats" from created enemies continues - and naturally, this all requires gazillions of dollars, no questions asked.

Millions of Americans have no jobs, don't have enough food, have lost or are losing their homes, and have little-to-no access to decent health care. Their educational opportunities are a joke. Our domestic infrastructure is crumbling (or being sold off to foreigners).

But there is no shortage of funds to "rebuild" Iraq, Afghanistan, and the other places we've leveled so multi-national corporations can appropriate their natural resources unhampered.

We are supposed to accept that a trust that we paid into our entire working lives may be cut - in many cases our only chance to ever retire - but ta-da! Drone bases all over Africa.

Endless amounts of tax dollars are spent on shit like this. And apparently the Pentagon is not even required to provide an accurate accounting of its spending to congress - they STILL can't account for 2.3 trillion in past expenditures!

Report: US building secret drone bases in Africa

The United States is assembling a series of secret drone bases in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula to launch an aggressive campaign against al-Qaida-linked groups in Somalia and Yemen, the Washingon Post reported Tuesday night.

The Post said the new bases are in Ethiopia, the Seychelles in the Indian Ocean and on the Arabian Peninsula. The military has also flown drones out of Djibouti, at the conjunction of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

In addition to using armed drones in Yemen and Somalia, the U.S. government has used them in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.... More MIC PR Here.

Anna, you accurately pointed out...

"...they STILL can't account for 2.3 trillion in past expenditures!"

The three stooges, namely Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld, were even better illusionists than Siegfried & Roy. I've witnessed the latter make lions and tigers disappear, apparently, right in front of my eyes. The stooges did it with $2.3 trillion, and a 757 to boot!
